Latisse®
Latisse is a prescription treatment used to help grow longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes. It contains bimatoprost, an active ingredient originally developed to treat glaucoma, a condition characterized by increased pressure in the eye. When used for eyelash growth, bimatoprost works by stimulating the hair follicles in the eyelash area, extending the growth phase of the eyelashes and promoting more growth.
How does Latisse grow lashes?
- Prolongs the growth phase: Latisse works by increasing the duration of the anagen phase (the active growth phase) of the hair cycle. This allows lashes to grow longer and fuller.
- Stimulates hair follicles: Bimatoprost can encourage hair follicles to grow thicker, longer, and darker eyelashes by increasing the number of follicles in the growth phase.
- Enhances lash quality: In addition to making lashes longer, Latisse also helps them become darker and thicker, improving overall lash appearance.
How it's used:
- Latisse is applied once a day, typically at night, to the base of the upper eyelashes using a disposable applicator.
- It's important to follow the instructions carefully, as improper use can lead to side effects or less effective results.
